Separation

Your social conditioning from this and past lives, contributes to your sense of being a separate ‘me’, apart from everyone else in the Universe.

Your brain serves to project your own version of reality and helps to keep this idea of a separate ‘me’ alive and kicking.

Each one of us has our own ‘story of me’ running like a computer program in the background.

It is who we think we are: “I’m someone who likes this or that, can do this or that, can’t do this or that” and so on …and on …and on!

This projection of thoughts, feelings, behaviors, likes, dislikes, talents and flaws, is who we think we are.

We refer to this ‘idea of me’ as your ego-personality.

It is not who you really are, but it is who you think you are, based upon your everyday experience.

In conventional astrology we use the symbolism of astrology to describe the energy dynamics of your ego personality.

In your horoscope (natal chart) these characteristics and tendencies will show up in the positions of the personal planets by sign, house and aspect.

Our personality, ego-personality, or identity are one and the same: how we think, act, and feel about ourselves on a daily basis, and who we generally believe ourselves to be.

The specific ‘set’ of thoughts, ideas, beliefs, skills, talents, strengths and weaknesses that we think of as ‘me’.

What we like, what we don’t like, what we can do, what we can’t do, what we will and what we won’t. All are wrapped up in this package that we call ‘me’.

This ‘idea of me’ (what we call our personality) is part of the overall illusion created by our brain that keeps us living in separation and duality.

When we are personality-oriented our life is all about getting the needs of our personality met and we live in a ‘dualistic’ state: me-you, us-them, him-her, up-down, black-white, Aries-Libra, Virgo-Pisces, Scorpio-Taurus, etc.

In our dualistic state everything appears to be separate and polarized into opposites.

Healing: the Process of Personality-Soul Fusion

Whenever we are thinking in terms of ‘me’ or ‘I’ this is our personality (our identity).

It is an illusory idea about ourselves, which we have constructed over our lifetime (and probably over past lifetimes) and it is largely the result of continuous, pervasive, conditioning.

Our Soul on the other hand, is our connection to the Divine.

It is said to be a vehicle for Divinity to experience itself in matter.

It is through direct perception and experience of our Soul that we can go beyond the limitations of social conditioning and even our brain wiring, and access the greater universal consciousness that lies beyond.

When this happens we start ‘waking’ up from the big sleep that has humanity enthralled in a collective illusion.

Having some kind of regular meditation practice is essential to this process because it is only through meditation that we can access and experience the greater part of our being that we call our Soul.

Why does this matter, on a practical level? Because the whole point of our spiritual journey is to integrate the two.

Not that they are really separate but, due to our over-identification with our personality traits, and general lack of attention to our spiritual world, we perceive them as two separate things.

In Esoteric Astrology the Tibetan Master refers to this integration process as personality-Soul fusion and it is essentially a process of self-awareness.

The word “heal” comes from the Old English word haelan, which literally means, “to make whole.”

In essence, there is no separation.

Our perceived separation is part of this illusion generated by our social conditioning and our brain.

The solution is to cultivate our awareness to the point where we can perceive reality as it really is: a complete, whole, and unified ‘hologram’ of intermingled, intertwined, dancing energy and light.

The very thing that makes us whole is pure awareness. Awareness is therefore the key to our healing journey, and the method for cultivating awareness is meditation.
